A February 8 release by Roy Morgan Research shows that summer is our favourite period for taking a domestic holiday. Figures show that just over 2.6 million people who took an Australian vacation did so in the sunny season, which is about 200,000 more than those who went in autumn.
Tasmania was the most summer-favoured holiday state, with a whopping 35 per cent of domestic visitors arriving on the island between October 2014 and September 2015, compared to winter (18 per cent).
Roy Morgan’s release also reveals that Queensland has many regions that are huge summer getaways. No less than 40 per cent of people who visit Caloundra and Southport do so during the hot season. Furthermore, 38 per cent of Australians who visit Brisbane go in summer.
You might be glad to know in terms of specific destinations, New South Wales also features many popularly frequented areas, such as Terrigal and Gosford. As you can see, whether it’s to get a nice tan or hit the surf, coastal locations are the name of the game.
