Contactless payments on trains, ferries and light rail

From Monday 26 November, Transit NSW enabled contactless payments for all Sydney trains that accept Opal, meaning you can now use your Border Bank Card or Smartphone to travel on Sydney Trains.

This is following on from the successful trial with the Sydney–Manly Ferry, which was then expanded to include all Sydney ferries and light rail.

Contactless transactions with Transit NSW currently works for:
• Visa, Mastercard and Amex NOT eftpos
• Debit and credit NOT prepaid cards
• All mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay) and wearables.

Your cards will work automatically, there is nothing you need to do.
