Adding your card to your digital wallet

Your digital Border Bank card works anywhere that your physical card does – you just need to tap your phone or mobile device to the terminal and, depending on your security settings, authorise your payment.

Digital cards are generally very safe because they use ‘tokenisation’. This means that instead of storing your sensitive card details on your phone, your digital wallet uses a randomly generated sequence of numbers (known as a ‘token’) to process each payment.

Your real card details will never be shared with a merchant when using a digital card.

Digital wallets also come with a range of additional security features such as asking you for biometric verification for each transaction – so even if someone steals your phone, they may not be able to use it to make payments.

Yes, you can continue to use your physical card even after you’ve set up a digital card. That means you can choose to pay in whichever way is most convenient for you at the time.

Yes, you can use your digital card to make online purchases as well as in-store transactions.

To make online payments with a digital card, simply select the digital card from the list of options provided on the check-out screen. Your device should then automatically fill-in the payment info page before asking you to verify your identity to complete the transaction.
